Insurance is a high growth industry with great opportunities for those with the right credentials. Harper’s Business Apprenticeship in General Insurance is a two-year program. Students have an opportunity to work for an employer with pay while getting on- the-job training and employer-paid schooling. Our apprentice program offers a pathway to a thriving career in insurance.
Students attend school in 12-week blocks each semester including the summer. They are in class on Tuesday/Thursday and work at the employer on Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Students are assigned a dedicated mentor on the job.
Participants who complete the insurance apprenticeship earn an AAS Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Insurance and are ready for a career in the insurance industry. In addition, the apprentices earn national insurance credentials through The Institutes and a certification from the Department of Labor indicating they are fully qualified for their occupation.
Depending on your employer you may do all or some of these functions: client facing activities and support for agents; underwriting review; resolving client issues; calculate potential losses; decide on coverage rates; settle insurance claims; review policies; process documents, health/dental, and many other entry level tasks. These jobs could be in any insurance areas, health, automotive, life, mortgage, or property & casualty depending on what is needed by the specific company.
Salary Outlook: $40,000 – $65,000 (NOT a guarantee of salary, just an estimated outlook in this industry.)
